Mission Statement
Sisters United News (SUN) comprises communicators of 12 religious congregations of the Upper Mississippi Valley. Collaborating for maximum impact and mutual support, SUN is dedicated to promoting and publicizing the values of Catholic Sisters living the Gospel in today's world. SUN represents sisters who live the gospel and whose values include: seeking God together in prayer and spirituality; embracing community; living in right relationship with all of creation; working for peace through justice.Fact Sheet

Award Winning
SUN has received honors for special projects and media campaigns from the National Communicators Network for Women Religious (NCNWR) and from the Iowa-Nebraska Immigrants Rights Network (I-NIRN).BEST PRACTICES AWARDS from the National Communicators Network for Women Religious have been given each year since 2004.
Sisters United News of the Upper Mississippi Valley has been recognized each of the three years since the establishment of the award.
- 2007: One award for interactive communications by launching a website as a resource for the media that provides facts, story ideas, projects and links to educate individuals, specifically the media, about Catholic Sisters and their ministries. A second award for an advertising campaign using a 30 second radio spot and publicity urging immigration reform in January 2007.
- 2006: Publicity and PR for LCWR 50th anniversary events on January 28, 2006, the Celebration of Women in Leadership, honoring lay women and sisters.
- 2005: Media campaign using a radio spot and news releases urged people to vote with tolerance and civility and to study the issues during the 2004 elections.
- 2004: "Welcome the Immigrant" campaign with billboards and news releases encouraged all Iowans to be more accepting of immigrants.
-NIRN Heartland Award from the Iowa-Nebraska Immigrants Rights Network made Sisters United News the first recipient of the Heartland Award in June 2002 for the "Welcome the Immigrant you once were" billboard campaign.
